How to Check for an Engine Coolant Leak
Hi! This is John on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will show you how to check for engine coolant leaks. As you take a look at your engine coolant reservoir, you will notice that there are several hoses coming and going from your engine coolant reservoir. When checking for leaks, you want to check all the connection points as well as take a look at the hoses to see if there are any cracks or breaks. You will want to do this for all hoses going to and from this area. Another thing that you can look for is if you have a lot of white smoke coming from your exhaust pipe, it could mean that your head gasket is bad and your engine coolant is leaking into your combustion chamber. Another way that you can tell that you are leaking engine coolant is when you fill the engine coolant full. If you check it a day or so later and it is empty again or low and you fill it full and you check it the next day and it is low again, it could mean that somewhere in your system it is leaking.
