DVD Player for Home Theater System Setup

All DVD players have different setup menus but do basically the same thing to set up your display and audio outputs. With the DVD player stopped, we have entered the setup menu of our Samsung DVD player. In the menu, we have an audio setup option. We can choose the type of digital output. Bit stream is for Dolby digital or DTS surround sound. PCM can be used for 2 channel or stereo playback. This is best for CD audio playback. We also have the option to turn DTS on or off. We have selected on. Other options will enhance your sound playback. We will skip ahead to speaker setup. Here we can choose the size of our speakers whether it be a small speaker or large one. Larger speakers will receive slightly more power for playback. Continue to choose the right size for all your speakers. Returning to the setup menu you will select the display setting. Here you can choose the right video output for your TV; 4 x 3 standard definition for standard square size TV or 16 x 9 for the new wide screen or HD TV’s. In the display setup, you can also choose interlaced or progressive video if your TV is capable. Once this is complete, exit the menu.
