The Second Sequence in Backgammon
My name is Malcolm Davis, I’m a professional Backgammon player. I’m here for expertvillage.com to hopefully teach you basically how to play. Now we could go on and play the whole game, let’s let my opponent roll maybe something will happen here. Well, he rolls a four-two. One, two, one, two three, four. Now this will bring up another important point or feature, because we’re talking about this being a point. Now then, he’s left an exposed blocked. If I roll a five, I can hit this checker and make it go back and start over. So I haven’t rolled yet, but this will be one, two, three, four, five, if I roll a five. And naturally I want to hit him and make him go back because then I will be ahead in the game. If I don’t hit him I’m at a big disadvantage. Okay let’s see what I rolled. Well I did roll a five. There’s the two, there’s the three. I can’t hit this checker, even though this roll adds up to five, I don’t have any place to land so that I can get to this checker. So I have to make another play, this is the right play, I come up here with the two, notice one, two. And then one, two, three. I can leap over this point, but I can’t land on it.
