When I was a beginner I didn't have money to get a nice flute and take it to the repairman every day. I had to use my instrument screwdrivers to make adjustments, good and bad.

"Don't touch the keys"... well you picked up the flute by the keys and you assembled the footjoint while grasping the keys. Don't touch the keys, or the rods either! You don't want that expensive mechanism out of adjustment! The alignment of the headjoint and footjoint vary from player to player, as does pulling out the headjoint. Take this with a grain of salt.
