How to Locate Spores on Ferns

Hello! My name is Reggie Whitehead. Today I am going to be speaking with you about growing tropical ferns courtesy of the Tropical Fern Exotic Plant Society and on behalf of expertvillage.com. Spores are typically located on the back of fronds. They are either located in lines or they can be circles or they can be patches as shown on the bottom of this fronds. Now most people think that on a stag corn or some times on the back of ferns there are something wrong with the plant; there isn't. What you are looking at right now is just not the spores. You are looking at several layers of things. The entire area is called the sorrel patch of this plant. The spores are necessary to begin new ferns and it takes lots of moisture and humidity. When growing ferns from spore, 100 percent humidity is absolutely necessary to give the spores a change to grow.
