How to Massage the Forearm Muscles: Pinpointing Muscle Groups for Massage

Hi! On behalf of expertvillage.com, my name is Jean Hurley from Siegels Day Spa in Cottonwood, Arizona and we’re giving you tips and techniques on how to pinpoint a muscle group. So moving into the forearm, it’s a simple stroke along the arm and we have 3 different muscles there. If you look at the chart here, we’ve got the flexor carpri ulnaris, the supinator and the abductor pollicis longus and these 3 muscles come together just like that. This is also good place for carpal tunnel to test along. If you watch the fingers, you go along from the flexor from the elbow towards the wrist with the knuckles of the finger. You can identify the flexor muscle simply by watching the fingers roll. It’s a good stretch, it’s a good technique to work for carpal tunnel. Into the wrist, rolling up, take the palm of the hand and watch the fingers roll back going along the flexor muscle, which is right down the center of the forearm. Then you have 2 muscles here very long, very narrow, not using a lot of pressure just side to side of that flexor. You can grip them, I guess the size of a hot dog, the width of a hot dog. Just going along the arm feeling the bones of the arm that are sitting right on top.
