How to Incorporate All Bowing Patterns Spontaneously

Hi! I’m David Kaynor for expertvillage.com and I’m been having a really nice time here getting deep into different options for playing the Old British Isles jig the Gobby-O, also known as the Jefferson and Liberty. I’d like to say that we have a classic old contra dance which fits this tune really well, which I think I danced for the first time back sometime in the early 1970’s. And I’ve gone over several different bowing options, including a pattern single bowing, a slightly modified pattern, and playing with more than one string in order to add energy and rhythmic emphasis. And now I’m going to try to simply play the tune twice through, and just use all of these things pretty much spontaneously and see what I get. The Gobby-O at dance tempo…the Gobby-O.
