Why you are saying that this guy is no good?! First of all, before judging his English, you should have at least some intelligence and don't say: "this guy", because "this guy" has a name, and his name is Mr. Olympiev. Secondly, you can't judge this coach just by looking at these video clips. All these video clips helped my cousin, and helped a lot, even her coach were so surprised. I want to thank you Mr. Olympiev for sharing these lessons with other people, and your English is excellent, you explaining very clear and very professional. Thank you so much!

This is absolutley ridiculous that this coach who does not even represent the United States should put videos of himself attempting to teach figure skating. Firstly he needs to learn how to speak the language, and second, does the rink know about this, because soliciting himself like this is unethical and disrespectful to the other coaches at that rink, who are probably far more qualified than him. If you want to take skating lessons you should go to the ice rink and take from a PSA (Professional Skaters Association) rated coach. These coaches are ranked in the country by top United States coaches such as Frank Carrol. Any Russian coach who has to sink to this level of online video, but cannot bother to get himself rated to coach should be sent back to work in the circus over there.

Look how he wobbled and almost fell when he was on his left leg.

It doesn't even look like he can hold a one foot glide himself.

Shoot me now........I think I wanna barf...

I personally have found these videos quite helpful. I like how he breaks the moves down and shows them slowly, so you can actually see what is going on. His descriptions are quite good as well. At the very least, it will get you started in the right direction. I have always skated but mainly for power and leg/hip conditioning. Recently I started trying to learn some tricks. I watched 3 of the videos on skills I was trying to learn, went to the ice, and could actually do them. I still have alot of work to do, but now I have some skills to work on - it always takes a while to get the feel of things. These video tips help with a good mechanical understanding of how to do these tricks.

I just wanted to say a few things about the negative comments to your videos. I've posted this same comment under all of your videos since the haters have done the same thing, too. The negative comments seem to be coming from a small group of people--in fact, I say it's coming from just one person posting under different screen names. I would probably pay attention to the criticism if it were actually objective, coherent or constructive--but it's none of these things. Its only purpose is to slander you. Whoever is trying to paint you as a bad guy has done quite the opposite. He/she is full of vindictiveness and pettiness and clearly has a personal grudge against you. Whatever you've done to warrant this kind of treatment, whether you deserve it or not, is completely irrelevant and is none of my business. All that really matters is if your videos are useful and helpful or not. In my humble opinion, your videos have been a great help to me and I applaud you for that.

Does anyone know how to copy these videos so that they can be put in a power point presentation?

Forward Stokes in Ice Skating

Hi my name is Dmitri Olympiev and I teach at Pines Ice Arena in Pembroke, Florida. You can reach us on the web at www.www.pinesicearena.com. Now the next advanced exercise is called “Forward-Stroking.” This is one of the most important exercises that skater practices everyday. We’re going to keep the arms straight as always, head up and now we’re going to sit down on both knees we’re going to push, extend our free leg in the back and keep the skating leg bended. And hold, and hold. Now this exercise is very important because it teaches us the balance of skating on one foot. It teaches us how to hold the free leg position up too, which is very important after we’ve completed the jump and spin, which is going to be called “Landing Position.” We’ll be right back.
