Using Fine Tuners on a Fiddle to Get the Correct Pitch

Hi I'm David Kaynor for expertvillage.com. I'm going to do a brief demonstration of fine tuning using fine tuners. One of the great advantages of the fine tuners is that it is quite easy to play using the bow and assess pitch and change pitch on a individual string at the same time. So here is the A. The A and the D sound pretty good and I do not want to mess with them. That sounds potentially in need of some work. So while bowing, I can tune the E string down, or I can put it back up, and being able to tune in very small, well-controlled increments can make tuning a lot easier and quicker, and it also can avoid wear and tear on the tuning pegs themselves, which is a topic for another discussion.
