Hello I'm David Kaynor for expertvillage.com. In this video series I'm going to discuss and demonstrate tuning the violin for playing fiddle music. I thought I would start out with a violin which is already in tune. So this violin is tuned E A D G, with the A which is often consider the reference tone...being at 440 hertz, 440 cycles per second. Back in the days of Baroque music, it is thought that the A, the standard A was somewhat lower; I think it was down around 415 or something like that. Apparently it has been creeping higher, and it could go higher still. So this is a violin that is in tune. Here is a violin which is not, and in the next segment I'm going to bring this violin into tune.
the song that you played at first was amazing
