Collage Work Surface: Transferring Image

So the next step after you've traced your image onto your tracing paper, again, if you need to have it as the same orientation, make sure you trace on the other side. So whichever way that you'd like for the image to be transferred down. This is where your ebony pencil comes in handy because it works best over larger shading surfaces. You just want to sort of make sure that you're covering the whole surface area so that when you go to transfer the paper, you're sort of making it like a carbon paper transfer. You're making sure that all the edges are covered with ebony pencil so that when you go to lay it down onto the actual board and trace it out, then the ebony pencil's actually what gets transferred. So you want to make sure that you're covering all edges there. And then when you figure out your orientation on the board where you'd like to have it, we'll just start with an area such as over here. I kind of put a little bit of tape on the edges just to keep it from moving around too much so that when you're working with it, it doesn't tend to slide around and you don't have to keep re-aligning the piece in order to figure out where to put it. And then you want to get your regular pencil. Again, I'm using an HB pencil to begin your tracing.
