Professional Riding Tips for a Dirt Bike or Motorcycle
Hi my name is Chris Kelley or my friends call me CK and I’m speaking on behalf of Expert Village. I am a stunt man. One other thing is to be able to do what you can do in confined spaces. Don’t just go out to an open track and try to ride and do all this crazy stuff. Do the same thing 100, 200, 300 times, do it until you can’t stand it no more and until you feel like you’ve perfected it because once you do that, you have control. The bike doesn’t control you, you control the bike. And you can gain that riding experience and take it in that confidence and take it on in your life and you can become wherever or whoever you want to be. So you want to be a professional rider or racer, or you want to try to get into maybe a movie of a business, such as myself, into doing stunts or stunt riding. Main thing is to become good at what you can do. First thing, if you can ride a bike, try to work on everything you can do, try to be consistent at your turns, be consistent at jumps, be consistent on the road. Take your road bike out and ride, take the turns get the feel for different bikes, how they react, maybe go to your local dealerships speak with them, local racers at the tracks, get out to the tracks talk to them because these are the people that are making their living with the motorcycles and if you get around that, you can meet and maintain yourself with other people, that’s how I succeeded in where I am today. My uncle was a top racer, where I’m from back near Buffalo, New York area he was a top pro in our area and since I was a kid, I wanted to race motocross, so that’s how I got my start. I started, became friends with our local dealership and auditioned for a live show that was looking for motorcycle riders, and from there I grew and traveled around to Ohio, Massachusetts, and Florida and eventually out to California where I am and working, riding, doing shows and stunts on bikes. The key is to be a good person, to be a good rider and have a good attitude, but if you put forth that effort, some day people will acknowledge it, people will know it and they’ll hire you, you’ll get the work and you can ride.
