Adding Walnuts To Blonde Brownies

I’m Helen McMahon for Expert Village. We’re going to add the topping. It’s not necessary, but some people like to have a little nut topping on the brownies: it makes it more attractive and it gives it an interesting flavor especially as they bake. Although some people are allergic to nuts, so one has to be careful not to include something that’s going to cause a problem a health problem. I have two kinds of nuts that I have to show you today. These are chopped walnuts for baking, and it’s very handy to have these because you can just take them out and sprinkle them on the surface, we’re going to cover half of our brownie pans with some of these. You can also use whole nuts and just chop them up, you need a sharp knife, and I prefer to use this chef knife, which does a good job and you can do a batch of them pretty quickly… so we’ll use some of each of these. These are a little bit larger, these ones are more finely chopped and very convenient for folks who do a lot of baking, especially if you want to add them to chocolate chip cookies or oatmeal raisin cookies or something of that sort , it saves one step in the kitchen it gets your cookies baked faster.
