How to Make a Swag Basket Shadow Box
Hello this is Jenny with simply beautiful craft on behalf of expertvillage.com. I like to show you how to make a shadow box out of your favorite Christmas or fall swag. If you are going to use a basket like this one the first thing that you are going to want to do is stabilize it. You are going to use a dowel stick or any other plain piece of wood on the back of your basket and glue it on and make sure that is secure before you do any thing inside your basket. I'm going to hang this one this way so I would put this on here this way so it would be even and then take another one that would only be the width of the basket and put it across the top and glue them together. Once that was glue I will take once of these picture hangers and attach it to the cross bar so I would have something to hang it on. Like this. If you have this piece of wood all the way across here your basket would hang probably against the wall. If you just put it at the top your basket is going to be a little bit crook it against he wall. Once you have done that and you secure it to your basket you are going to want to put your swag inside. You can do it one or two ways you can get your own fruits and vegetables and make your own swag which is easy to do and you can design it exactly the colors that you want. But I found this beautiful swag on sale and decided that it would look lovely inside the basket. So I'm going to bend it to my own taste. Give it kind of a different I don't like things that are always so symmetrical. So I'm going to bend it like this and I'm going to see if it fits in my basket and it does. So what I will do with it now is secure this to the top of the basket with wire and I would probably use my copper wire so it would be less likely to show and put the wire right around the swag and through the top of the basket. Wire it to the basket. Then I also take some of this wire and put it around the back of it so that it would have stability and then the back of that wire would also go over this. So again the weight won't be resting on the basket. Once that is done and you have secure your swag into the basket you are finish and it is ready to hang and you have a beautiful shadow box that is made out of a basket and a swag.
