Hi my name is Alaina and I’m going to start off by showing you a little bit about charcoal drawing. Another way to start drawing charcoal is actually to fill in your entire paper with black, I just filled in a section right here of what my face would be and I want to start doing the opposite, instead of drawing in the parts, I’m going to take out with an eraser. So I would start taking out maybe the nose and just erase, erase where the nose would be, but you’re just going to take out shadows. You’re going to take out the lightest point of the nose which would probably be about the tip here and then probably the back of his nose. So you’re going to start taking parts out and your face will actually start to come together. You’re going to take out a little bit of the eye and then if you take too much out you can always rub back in to make it lighter, so you can get you difference and all your lighting as well.
That would only be useful if you were drawing a dark skinned person or someone who is in a very dark setting. Why dont you just teach the correct way to draw?
