How to Make a Miniature Collection Shadow Box
Hello this is Jenny with simply beautiful crafts on behalf of expertvillage.com. We have been making shadow boxes out of a variety of different things from traditional shadow boxes to very unique things. I have a collection of miniatures that I have had for many years. Started out with these little teacups from my grandmother and added to the collection but I never really had something to display them in. the other day I decided that a cutlery tray would be a great way to display my miniatures. So I took my miniatures and place them around in different places in the tray to see what I liked. What I ended up with was putting my miniatures in all over throughout the tray and when I had got done with it I had them all in and I though that you know these white ones just don't show up very well against the white. So I got a big piece of paper that is silver and gold on both sides and cut a gold piece to fit inhere. So I put these in with the gold piece and decided that I like pretty well. Then I put the little dog in, and the other little animals they looked alright on there but then these little pieces need something to. So I cut pink paper to fit in these two spots and then I had a perfect place that had a perfect background color for these little piece now obviously you are going need to glue them in. then then once that I had the little animals in I decided that I wanted a divider and found this wonderful piece of balsa wood it is great because you can actually cut it with scissors. So I measure where to cut and the first piece that I cut was a little bit to small so I cut a second piece and then it was just a little bit to larger so I simply took a emery board and smoothed it with a emery board until it fit just right. Then I was able to insert it and make a divider. So I went ahead and filled up with my miniatures and what I'm going to do is secure these two pieces of paper to the back so there in the right place and then I will either use the Elmers glue or some glass glue and actually glue my little miniatures in place. Now at last I have a display case or a shadow box for my miniature collection.
