Hip Cut Defensive Youth Wrestling Move
Hi! My name is Matthew Moyles I’m a coach here at Minisink Valley, I’m here on behalf of Expert Village and today we’re going to go over competitive wrestling. The next move I’m going to demonstrate is called the hip cut. It’s the defensive move from a neutral position. What I want to do is get my good sugar foot stance and when an opponent comes to shoot for this leg, I want to get this leg back as far as I can by placing my left hip on the mat. I’m in a good stance, opponent comes and shots for my legs, I pop back, get my left hip on the mat, and then because I prevented him from getting my legs, I push with my hands and my elbows and I slide back up into my stance and I get back into my good sugar foot stance. Here, Josh is going to illustrate what a hip cut looks like at full speed. He will start off on his left hip, do a hip cut then he’ll move to his right hip and do a hip cut, to illustrate it can be done on both hips. Go ahead Josh.
