Teleprompting: Shields

I will talk about the presidential podium or presentation set up. Teleprompters are often used for speeches as well. In this application, they're called presidential podium or presentation set up named for the President of the United States because this is the very set up they use for speaking. These systems are also sometimes called conference teleprompter systems. With the presidential, the reflector is usually a piece of glass with a special partially reflective coating. It's mostly transparent so as not to block the view of the speaker by the audience or cameras. Usually two of these are set up, one on each side of the podium if there is one, so the speaker can look and read the prompter from one side of the room to the other side as if scanning. The monitors for these systems are set on a base with the screens facing up. The reflective glass is held by a clamp on a pole. Make sure you tighten all the nuts and bolts on the clamps and poles, otherwise slippage could occur and you'd have broken glass and possibly a broken monitor. The monitors are placed on each side of the podium. This is the tricky part. Placing the monitors where every speaker can see their speeches. And you will have speakers of different height, so try to place them and adjust them for an average size person.
