Too much talk, little or no showing. There should be closeups of what is being illustrated, not long shots of the instructor's hand pointing to something some tiny object too small to be seen.

Drawing the Correct Human Lip, Chin & Hairline Proportions

Hi my name is Alaina, and I’m going to be speaking on behalf of Expert Village. And I’m going to be giving you some art tips on how to do a good human form drawing. Then from that section, this is your head, here’s your chin. You’re going to divide that little section into thirds, the first third is going to be the section between your nose and your upper lip, that’s where your upper lip is going to start. Second and third is going to be where your cleft of your chin, actually the indent of your chin, most people have a small indent in their chin and that’s actually where that’s going to end up, so then you have your face almost perfectly laid out already. The top of their ear is actually going to start at your eye line and it ends at the bottom of your nose, but when you put in your hairline, it depends on the age of the person. If you have a person, roughly a younger person, your hairline is going to fall roughly halfway in between your eye line and your top of your head. And obviously receding hairlines are going to go back further, whether the person is looking up or down depends on where the hair line is going to be, but just looking at a normal straight on person it’ll be roughly halfway.
