Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’ve been discussing some basic tips for playing the game set. Now, let’s talk about actually the playing of the game set. We’ve discussed what makes a set of 3 cards, questions to ask yourself. Let’s just go into fine detail about actually playing the game itself and the rules and regulations, so to speak. So, you’ve got yourself a dealer, unless you’re playing be yourself in solitaire, but you or someone who’s going to shuffle up the cards really, really, well. Then after that, you’re going to lay down 12 of the cards. It’s always good to make sure that the 12 cards are usually in a row of either 3 or 4, so that you can see all of the symbols very clearly and the shapes and so on and so forth. But you want to be able to see that from all different angles and view points, so that no one has an advantage or anything like that. So, you’re sitting there and you’re looking for the various sets. When you think you see a set, and you want to be sure of it, you really do see a set, you’re going to call out the word set. Very simple. So, you call out the word set and you take those 3 cards. The dealer then replaces it with 3 more cards and you keep playing until the deck is depleted or until there aren’t anymore sets left. Now, if you’re playing by yourself in a game of solitaire and you’ve got 12 cards and you don’t see a set, well then you basically lost the game and it’s over, or you can delete a point from yourself if you want. Or you can just reshuffle it and deal yourself 12 more cards until you can find and visualize the set. It’s a good way to start off the game with solitaire, but basically you keep going until you’re all out. Now, the trick is, if you find a set or you think you found a set, everyone else is going to look and verify it. If it isn’t a set, you’re going to leave those cards there on the table and you’ll lose a point. Otherwise, you’re going to take those cards, gain a point, and the dealer will put out 3 more cards until you keep playing until all your cards are gone.
