Jump Start the Game of Set

Hello! My name is Melissa Schenk and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we’ve been discussing some tips on learning to play the game set. Now, on this next clip, we call this quick start, because if you want to get a quick start in the game and learn how to play it, it’s just great if you’re just learning how to play and you want to understand it or if you’re playing with small children as well. A really good way to quick start the game of set is to eliminate one of the features, and that feature would be color. You can sort out the deck, take out, and play with just one color. For instance, all the red cards is usually a good place to start. You can sort your deck out and just play with all the red cards. Instead of needing to find a set of using 4 different features, you’re just using 3 of the features, because of course all of the cards are going to be red so you will have that feature in common. If you want to persist with that, you can do the same and then play with all the green cards. After that, then you can play with all the purple cards. But really is sometimes a great place to start; you just want to sort the deck out. A good thing to though is when you start playing with a full deck, because you’ve sorted out all of the different cards, make sure you give it a really good shuffle before you start playing with a bunch of people and laying out the 12 cards. You’ll find they’ll either be a lot of red, a lot of green, or a lot of purple. Give that card deck a good shuffle before you play a big game of set.
