Drawing the Human Form in Correct Proportions

Hi my name is Alaina, I’m speaking on behalf of Expert Village. And I will be showing you a few tips on art starting with proportions of the human form, it’s one most important parts of drawing for the human form. To start out, the human form starts with about 7 to 8 head lengths, so if you draw your head just draw a circle. Basically, you’re going to measure that out, about 7 of those lines are going to equal to about a person. And you’ll measure that about until 7, but you’ve got to measure your person to make sure that it’s equal to 7 lengths. Roughly, between 7 to 8 is for adults and about 4 to 6 for a child. So once you have your head and your proportions set, you want to find out where the center of your body is, just find out roughly what center is. You can use your pencil if its longer than your hand to measure and find out that’s roughly about the center. That’s actually going to be the pelvis of the person if their hands are down, if their hands are actually raised above their head, the pelvis or the navel is going to be the center of their body. So depending on the position of their body, you need to find out what the center is.
