Hi! My name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com. I’m a professional guitar instructor, and today I’ll be discussing some advanced classical guitar pieces. Okay, next, I’d like to work a little bit more on another piece that really showcases the tremolo technique. It’s an etude. An etude is a piece designed to help you work with a specific thing or technique. In this case, my guess is my Mateo Carcassi when he composed A to number 7. His intension was good right hand etude helping you work with your right hand tremolo technique, as well as maybe a little bit of your arpeggio technique. Definitely a nice sounding etude in the key of A minor, very aggressive sounding piece. First, I’d like to discuss the first 4 measures of it. Starting bass around that A chord, but your melody lines in the bass. You’re coming back and using this tremolo technique on this A note, using your AMI fingers. So you go. That’s the 1st measure. The second measure. The 3rd measure probably based at a D minor. The 4th measure. There’s that E chord, there’s that 5 chord. Putting all 4 of those measures together, we have something like this.
