Key Abalone Words & Terms
Hello! My name is Melissa Shank and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we have been discussing some basic tips on playing the game Abalone. So we are almost there. So I thought it would be advantageous to review a couple of key words so that when you are playing the game you know exactly what you are talking about. Some sort of flash cards here for you to have a look at. We've got 3 words on this one. First word of course is move, next one is Sumito and push. Simple one and I am sure you know what that means. So move when you are moving the marbles, move basically means to move the marble or groups of marbles without pushing your opponent. You are making a move. All right, do you remember what Sumito means. Sumito means is basically we are talking about numerical order of superiority. All right, so you sometimes need to set up some Sumito. That's again a 2 to 1 push, 3 to 1 push or a 3 to 2 push as well, so our Sumito. Push of course is a very simple one if of course the act of pushing or being pushed which is allowed by a Sumito. Okay, there's our first 3. The next 3 words of course here is a pack, eject and a gambit. We haven't really discussed much about a gambit. Do you remember what a pack is? A pack is kind of the opposite of the Sumito when we are talking about positions of superiority. A pack you can have 3 different variations; a 1 to 1 pack, 2 to 2 pack or a 3 to 3 pack and basically it is a line of equality. You can't do much about pushing each other or your opponent when you are in a pack. Eject of course; next word that is of course the object of the game is to eject 6 of your opponent's marbles off of the board. So we are ejecting 6 of the marbles off of the board makes for a winning game and finally, gambit. Gambit is a voluntary sacrifice of a marble that will allow you to achieve a later game. So that is what a gambit is. Two more to go here as we do our little bit of our key word glossary for you for playing the game Abalone. Covered and debt; of course covered is win your ball is covered by all different positions. It is surrounded; your marble is surrounded and your marbles are covered. In debt; finally debt is when a marble is in position from which it can be ejected and it doesn't have an escape group so you are in debt. So that is just a little bit of glossary for key words and playing the game Abalone. Enjoy and have fun.
