Hanging an American Flag From a Staff or Horizontally

Flag etiquette and the rules of our nation's flag are something that every American should become familiar with. I'm Captain Joe Bruni, with over three decades of fire fighting and EMS experience. What I'm going to talk about is proper etiquette when displaying a flag, either horizontally or at an angle from a building, window, or balcony. It is acceptable and advisable when displaying an American flag from a windowsill, front of a building, or a balcony, to either display it at an angle or horizontally with the union, which is the blue field with stars, at the peak of the pole. Again, flag etiquette and the rules of our nation's flag are something that every American should be familiar with. When displaying from a building, balcony, or windowsill it is acceptable to fly the flag at an angle or horizontally providing that the union is at the peak of the staff or pole. I'm Captain Joe Bruni. Stay safe, and we'll see you next time.
