Hi, my name's Cell Garcia-Trias and I'm a modern dance instructor in Austin, Texas. I'm going to show you how to do figure eights in a hangover position, the way that you would do it in modern dance. So the first thing I'm going to do, I'm going to do this sideways so you can see. I'm going to plant my feet on the ground and imagine little roots all through my feet that are planting my feet on the ground. Then, I'm going to reach up and over with my spine and I'm going to come to a hangover position. I'm reaching up and over so that my upper body is going to hang over. I can do this slowly if I like. You can take your time, just relax and breathe. While I'm down here I'm going to bend my knees and rest my upper body on my thighs. And now I'm going to make figure eights with my sits bones. So I'm going to imagine that there's little flash lights sticking on my sits bones, going up and down and I'm going to make figure eights with them, twisting my hips. This is just slow and gentle and it just feels like a nice opening up of the hips, figure eights. And its going to open up your lower back too. I'll switch the direction of my figure eight at some point. So you can feel one knee will bend and the other will straighten a little bit while you're doing this. Try to remember to relax your head and upper body so that you're not finding any tension in any spot of your back or neck. And when I'm done with this I'm just going to stop, let it come to a rest. And I'm going to bend my knees to come back up slowly so that the blood doesn't rush out of my head too quickly. So that's a nice way to open up your hips by doing the figure eights in a hangover position.
