Examples of Positions of Balanced Forces in Abalone
Hello! My name is Melissa Shank and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we have been discussing some basic tips playing the game Abalone. Now in our earlier clip, we were talking about packs; position of balanced forces. So in this clip or this segment, we are going to have a look of an example of pack and how to break our pack and basically we are going to break the pack through a Sumito. So if we have a look at the board once again here, let's show that example of a pack. Now keep in mind you have to remember that in a pack a position of balanced forces neither side can push. So here we have a pack of 3 against 3. A pack needs to be broken along a different line of attack. We have 2 ways of doing this. For instance depending if it was white or blacks turn to go, right in here it has to be broken between different lines of forces. So here black could take 2 marbles, here push 1 white and do so like that or it could also been broken by 3 white here moving 1 black like that. In the next time white were to maybe go or black, they might break that by doing that or they might have pushed 3 to 2 here. Again the reason why it is 1 play and the other player back and forth, is you can see how quickly this game can change. So just remember in a pack it is position of balanced forces basically and you need to break that pack by a different line of force.
