Key Words & Marble Movements for Abalone
Hello! My name is Melissa Shank and on behalf of expertvillage.com, today we are talking about some basic tips and techniques on how to play the game Abalone. Now we have been talking about moving your marbles and how to move them and we know you get to either move 1, 2 or 3 marbles at a time and we have been talking about how to push your marbles. Now in the game Abalone there are a couple of different terms or terminology key word that you have to keep in mind. We are talking about moving your marbles; two important words are these: first word is in line and the second word is broad side. So if we go to our board right now I will demonstrate what these words mean. Of course in line means that any marble going forward or backwards, they are literally in line. This is a move that you can make when pushing or moving your marbles in line. So you are moving them either forwards or backwards on the same line where the marbles lay, so forward or backwards. That is what in line means. It means you are going in a straight line so to speak. Broad side, kind of the opposite almost is that for instance here the marble can move on a diagonal line. So instead of going side to side, you are going diagonally which is also kind of straight I suppose but you have a choice of going in these 6 directions. So you have to choose if you are going to move your marbles either in line or broad side. Simply put in line or broad side. Two important words and key words for moving your marbles.
