Belly Dance: Left Foot Travel Rocking Undulations With Sloping Arm Variations

Hi, I'm Johanna, and this is Karen. And we're here with Hip Expressions Belly Dance Studio in St. Petersburg Florida, to show you how to work on your rocking undulations. So we're going to put the left foot forward, and the right foot back. We're going to travel to the left side, and we're going to do a sloping arm variation. So our left arm is going to go up, right arm is down, left foot is forward. Now as we travel, we're going to angle the body slightly, so you get a nice line. And then people can really see your nice undulation. So, left foot, right foot, step out with the left, together with the right, step out left, right, good. Now as we switch sides here, we're going to keep the left foot leading, and now the left foot is going to cross over, the right foot. And our right arm is going to go up and frame our body, traveling to the right, good. And switch; and left, right; left, right; left, right; left, right, and switch; and left, good. Keep that left foot forward, keep the shoulder blades down. Lets try it double time. 1,2; 1,2; switch directions, 2; 1,2; 1,2; 1,2; 1, good. So practice this in front of a mirror. Make sure you're not doing any level change, so your isolation is nice and distinct, and you'll be floating across the dance floor in no time at all.
