Different Types of Notes for Classical Guitar

Hi my name is John Armstrong with expertvillage.com I'm a professional guitar instructor and today we are going to be discussing beginning classical guitar. Okay next I will like to discuss notes and rest. A note is a sound or a noise that is produce in a certain amount of beats. The main notes that we are going to dealing here today are going to be your whole notes, half note, quarter notes, and 8th notes. We will discuss a little bit about 16th notes to. A whole note receives 4 beats so it is a sound that is produce and hold in 4 beats something like this. 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4. A half note is the sound that is produce and hold for 2 beats so for example in 4,4 time it would be like this 1,2, then 3,4,1,2, and 3,4. Quarter notes if I have a string of quarter notes in 4,4 time a quarter note gets one beat so I will be playing on each beat something like this 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4. A 8th note we will discuss more about 8th notes when we get into more advance counting. So a note is a sound that is produce and held for a specific amount of beats where as a rest is silence that is held for a specific amount of beats. Just like there is a whole note it gets 4 beats there is a whole rest which is silence for 4 beats. Typically speaking how we do a resting technique is by stopping the guitar with the right hand in order to stop it from making any noise what so ever. As I said before there is a whole note which give 4 beats a whole rest which is silence for 4 beats. The half note for 2 beats you have rest for 2 beats. A quarter note for 1 beat a quarter beat for one beat. And a 8th note for a half of a beat, 8th rest for a half of a beat.
