How much does a comedian make? Hold up. You mean comedians make money? I'm supposed to get paid for this? Wow! I didn't know comedians can make money. No, I'm joking. Comedians write their own salary. It depends on your credits, your history, how good you are at what you do. Because, a comedian can make anything from if you're starting out to fifty dollars a night to if you're a big headlining comedian doing Vegas or doing some big large venues you can make a hundred thousand, fifty thousand per night. So, it depends on you and depends on your drive. It depends on what you want. But, you basically like anything in life you sell your own brand. Sometimes, you have comedians that are Pintos. Then, sometimes you have comedians that are BMW's. Sometimes, they're Cadillac's. Depends on what you want to be. Do all comedians get paid? No. Just the funny ones. But, or the ones who have really good representation. But, no not all comedians get paid. But, like I read in a book one time you don't do comedy for the money. You do comedy for the funny. Because, once you do the funny then the money follows. Royalties are involved in comedy if you're doing a television show. But, if you're doing a nightclub usually it's just that one show and there's no residual payments after that. But, if you're on a television program sometimes royalties do come into effect yes. Comedians get paid by a number of reasons. By a number of ways, rather. Most of the time if you're scheduled to get paid X amount of dollars, you might get a deposit. Which, is usually half of the fee that you're charging like a month maybe a week before the show and then the other payment is due immediately prior to you performing or immediately after you perform the day of the performance. Do you always get your money? If you don't get your money, it's a problem. I think comedy is always growing, because in this economy nowadays you have so many different things and so you don't smile you don't laugh. And, so many people don't laugh nowadays that I think comedy is very refreshing. I think more people should add comedy to their life. Which, is why I tell people if you can't laugh at yourself come out to a comedy club and laugh at a comedian. It makes you feel better. I know I do.
