Give it up for BET comic dude comedian, Mr. Dexter Angry. A comedian is a person that makes a living by making people laugh. He gets on stage, performs in comedy clubs, colleges, does seminars, sometimes you may see a comedian at a corporate event talking to whatever. But basically, a comedian is someone who gets on stage, prepares humor and makes people laugh. Laughing is very important. You can talk and talk and talk and talk and talk, but at some point there may come a laugh. Like if you're laughing right now, I was just a comedian. Not a English professor, comedian. I didn't say good grammar, laughing. A typical day as a comedian depends on what day you're talking about. Is it a show day? Is it a normal day? Is it a booking day? Like for instance, if it's a Monday, Mondays tend for me to be a work day because I book myself and I make phone calls. I send emails to comedy clubs and different venues so I can get more comedy work. If it's a show day or a travel day, I might have to get up to catch a plane, fly to where I'm going to, check into my hotel, get ready to go to the venue, maybe do a sound check, and then do the show at the appropriate time. If the show starts at 8:30, I'm on the venue by 8:00, and getting ready to do the performance. Comedy is different from any other job in this field. And I consider other job in this field similar as stage acting, film acting or anything other than when you're speaking in front of people. This is different because if I go to, if I'm an actor in a play and you don't like something I say in a play, it's very not me. However, as a comedian, everything I say is me. I write it, I direct it, I do the whole show and everything I say. So for me, it's more personal that people like what I do because if you don't like me as as comedian, that means you don't like me, and that's not nice, but vs. not liking a character. Does comedy always work? No, comedy does not always work, but that doesn't mean that it can't work. Because a lot of times when you're a comedian, improvisations are the funniest things, but a lot of times you may do something, it may not be scripted as being funny, but it might be one of the funniest thing that you can work into your act at a later date. So no, comedy doesn't always work, but I still think it can be a very funny and a beautiful thing because mistakes tend to be funny.
