Dealing With the Frustrations of Teaching a Foreign Language

Hello my name is Hakeem Lavelle I am here on behalf of Expert Village to do a how to video on teaching a foreign language. We are now at the portion that most of us don't want to travel down. Frustrations. How do you deal with frustrations? For me one of the greatest frustrations that you can find in teaching anything is when you confuse people. That is frustrating. Going at something for a period of time. Getting into a comfort zone and in a rhythm and not being able to convey information. Remember as a teacher your goal is to transmit what is in here to there. You want what is in your head to go into that next person head as easily and as smoothly as possible. Then when you are getting into an area where you confuse somebody where you don't know how to relay information it becomes challenging. The key to that challenge is being able to adapt. Being able to bounce back. Being able to key in on whatever area you make a mistake because you are going to make mistakes. You are going to make mistakes so now you have to key in on whatever mistake you did. Not only that but maintain your self confidence; maintain the self confidence of the person that you are teaching. Have him know that in despite of this mistake you can still learn and I can still teach you. We just need to figure out where things went wrong and you have to start from the very beginning from the basics to figure out what it's imperative, especially depending on what stage you are in. If you get to this stage now where you have been at it for months and this person is making progress and you have something that you can't not convey to this person, don't be afraid to say I don't know or I would get back to you later. I'm going to go to somebody who could better explain this to you and you have remind them look you made it this far so don't lose confidence yet. I got you. And once both of you have come to this accord. Okay we hit a snag, we have reached a certain amount of progress, as long as you can maintain that person's confidence you should be okay. Thank you!
