Modern Dance Bent Leg Jump

Hi, my name is Chell Garcia-Trias and I'm a modern dance instructor in Austin Texas. I'm going to show you a jump that involves raised arms and bent legs. First of all, this is a jump that goes from one foot to the other so you can practice just jumping from one foot to the other, just gently, jumping from one foot to the other. When I get up a little higher, I'm going to bring each foot into my pelvis so I jump one foot and the other. Pretty simple, one foot to the other. To make it look a little bit nicer, I'm going to lift my arms up. I'm really going to lift from my wrists and I'm going to drop my upper body so that I feel like I'm hanging from my wrists so, I'm going to jump one leg to the other. You want to move to the side while you're doing this. You could move across the floor doing these jumps, if you wanted to, so you would cross your leg in front, one foot to the other and you can go the other way, one foot to the other. You really want to try and pull up with those wrists so that it looks like you're a hanged man just hanging there. That's a pretty simple way, that I would do, a jump from one foot to the other with straight arms and bent legs.
