Hi my name is Chell Garcia-Trias and I'm a modern dance instructor in Austin Texas. I'm going to show you how to do a switch leap; it's kind of like a fake out leap, like I'm going to go and jump off of my left foot as if I was going to leap on my right foot but instead I'm going to bend my right foot to get some momentum and then push it back; and leap forward on my left foot. So I'm going to bend the right foot and then push it back, and that's how I'm going to jump off of my left foot. So if I did it with a little more momentum that's how I would do it and I want to point my legs in the air, and I want my legs to be as straight as possible and when I land I want to land on a bent leg; and make it nice and smooth. So with a little bit of an extra umph we go out; land and I can really tuck under when I land too if I want it to look a little more dramatic, out; down, tuck. So that's the way that I would do a switch leap or kind of a leap fake out that I think is really pretty in modern dance.
