"Shuffle Off To Buffalo" Steps for Tap Dancing
Alright guys, thanks for joining me here at expertvillage.com. My name is Connie Hale. We’re now going to be moving up until a little bit more advanced tap steps. We’re going to work on some combinations. What we’re going to start with is what’s called shuffle off to Buffalo. It’s a simple crossing of the feet; it is a shuffle and cross up. I’m just going to demonstrate it first and then I’ll break it down for you. Step, shu-ffle, up, step, shu-ffle, up, step, shu-ffle, up, step, shu-ffle, up. Alright, let’s break that down. We step, weight is on the foot. This foot is free to shuffle. shu-ffle. We’re going to hop on to that free foot now, while the other foot comes up to join us in the front. Alright, let’s break that down again. Step, shu-ffle, hop on to it, up, step, shu-ffle, hop, step, shu-ffle, hop, step, shu-ffle, hop. Let’s try that on the other side. We’re going to step with our left foot now. Step, shu-ffle, and hop, step, shu-ffle, hop, step, shu-ffle, hop. Let’s face that to the side so you can see the weight transfer. Step, shu-ffle, hop, step, shu-ffle, hop, step, shu-ffle, hop. Bring it up to speed. Buffalo would sound like this. Bring it even more. Double time on that one for those advanced students out there. You hear four distinct sounds in a Buffalo. Hands placement is just crossing in the front. And that is shuffle off to Buffalo.
