Mazda 626 Water Pump Replacement: Removing the Splash Pan

Hello. My name is Jeff Fiffie. Today, I will be showing you how to remove and replace a water pump on a Mazda six-two-six. Now, the next component is called your splash pan. This is your splash pan here. It prevents any water from splashing up in the engine itself. There is two bolts here that holds the splash pan. Remove those bolts. The splash pan is made out of plastic, so it can easily be maneuvered down to the bottom giving you a clear view of the pulley and the harmonic balancer here. Ok. At this point, the jack is going to be lowered down so the harmonic balancer and the pulley will be accessible. Of course, laying it down real slow is very important. We don't want anything to tumble over or fall on us. Then, it will be ok to pull the jack back just a little bit out of the way.
