Taking Apart a Car Intake
Hi! My name is Nate McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about the proper way to remove the air filter intake duct work. As you can see, we have a clamp right here. It just takes a regular flat blade screwdriver. Some will be a flat end of Phillips so either one will work, undo that screw until it is good and loose and you can see it wiggle. There is a connector here that we are going to remove. I like to use this screwdriver to press the locking tab and slide it off. There is also a piece of duct work here we are going to remove, just like so. Once you have that stuff unplugged, you can slide it off of the throttle body. On this particular vehicle if you roll it up, it exposes one more clip right here. We are going to get a hold of that with our screwdriver, depress the lock tab and slide it off. There's one more clamp that we have to deal with. It's just like your typical radiator hose clamp, a Phillips or flat blade screwdriver works. If you don't have one of those, most of them with have a hex head on it that you can put a socket on. Once we've got that unscrewed, pull that component out. This is the duct work that runs from the air filter into the throttle body. On this particular car it has to come off to gain access to our alternator. Once you've got it off, take and set it out of your way. Okay, as you can see that's exposed one more layer to reach our alternator.
