Removing the Alternator
Hi! My name is Nate McCullough on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this clip we are going to talk about the proper strategy for any particular vehicle. The days of being able to climb under the hood and sit on the fender and work on the engine are gone. They are never coming back. As you can see, some of the alternators are located underneath several different engine components. What we want to do is determine the strategy for whichever particular vehicle you are working on the easiest way to gain access to that alternator. So you can it is layered underneath some of the air intake, some of the throttling cruise control linkage as well as some radiator components and ignition components. We need to decide on which particular order we want to disassemble this engine in to gain access to our alternator. This one being relatively straight forward, we will start at the top and work our way down until we have all those engine components out of the way. Your strategy is going to vary from make and model depending upon where the alternator is located and how some of the engine components are configured. So what you are going to want to do is take a moment before you get any tools out and decide the best means of attack to gain access to your alternator.
