How to Mount the Ceiling Fan Base
Hi! I'm Chad Smith and I'm a State Certified Journeyman wireman; basically an electrician. I'm here today with expertvillage.com and we are mounting a new ceiling fan in this house. Now we've already been through all the steps working up to this point and we are getting ready to mount the new bracket for the new ceiling fan. This is very simple stuff to do. You've made it this far walking through these steps. This is very easy. You ought to be proud of yourself. This is the new bracket for the ceiling fan that we are installing. As I mentioned earlier, there is really only two types of brackets for ceiling fans. There's this half circle one and there is the one that we saw earlier with the hook on it. That's it; there's just two of them. Very simple. What we are going to do is mount this bracket on the ceiling into the existing two holes that you had there, that you took the other one down. Now just make sure you slide the bracket right to the wire there and put your screw right back in that hole. Now be careful not to cross thread this because it will strip it out and you will have to replace the box and you definitely don't want to do that because you will have to call me out and that costs a lot of money. So let's try not to strip these out. So you just put these in a hole, very simple, easy to do and you want to make sure that it is completely tightened and snug because this is actually what is holding the ceiling fan to the ceiling and you don't want it to jiggle loose or vibrate loose and come falling down and crashing on someone's head. To make sure that it is completely tight and snug, because this is actually what is holding this ceiling fan to the ceiling and you don't want it to jiggle loose or vibrate loose and come falling down and crashing on somebody's head. Take your screwdriver and just tighten them down. That's it; that's all you have to do, very easy. So now that we've got the bracket up there, we want to make sure that we have the screws nice and tight. Now you don't want to over tighten them because you will strip it out and replace the box. You want to make sure that it is nice and tight because this is actually what will hold the ceiling fan from falling down. So now that we've got the screws nice and tight, we are ready to move on to the next step and actually hang the ceiling fan itself.
