Chad, these are great videos. I have been in the ceiling fan business for over 20 years selling fans retail and on the Internet, and find your ceiling fan installation series to be very helpful. I would have liked to actual examples of reinforcing the ceiling with a 2x4 and with a fan bracket, which would be more helpful. Also, the video pertaining to preparing the ceiling fan for installation does not play correctly and hangs just after the intro. Otherwise, great job! I will be posting these videos on our website at http://www.hansenwholesale.com which is the one of the largest resources for ceiling fans on the Internet, and the very first ceiling fan website ever, which we started back in 1994.

How to Prepare a New Ceiling Fan for Installation
Hi! I'm Chad Smith and I'm a State Certified Journeyman wireman; basically an electrician. I'm here today with expertvillage.com and we are mounting a ceiling fan in this house. Now we've already went through most of the steps to get to this spot. We shut the power off, we tested it, we removed the old ceiling fan base and I wanted to talk to you a little bit about this ceiling fan base. Now this particular model, there are a couple of different types out there. Some of them are very simple. You can mount a base and hang the ceiling fan. You're done, sha bam! This was is a little bit more elaborate. Like I mentioned we got this one on-line. This is a little bit higher end ceiling fan. That is why I went ahead and bought a used one because these are actually very expensive in the store. This one is a really nice fan. It's got the light kit and the five blades and really nice glass globes. Now on the old fan that we removed, you will notice that that one was a hook type and I had talked about the half ball type. This is the half ball type. These are very, very, very easy to install. If you go to the store and you buy a new ceiling fan and you bring the box home and you open the lid and you see a zig saw puzzle in there, don't just slam the lid closed and go running scared. This is a very simple project to do. Most people are afraid of this, afraid of electrical and afraid of doing this. This is so easy. I do it every day. It is so simple to do. Just follow the instructions that come with the unit and they will walk you right through it and the next thing you know it you have a ceiling fan that is blowing out some nice air. Also you have me here with you to help walk you through the steps. So we are ready to install this new ceiling fan. I'm Chad Smith and we are installing a ceiling fan in this house today.
