Kung Fu Saber Basics: Thrust

Hello, I'm Sifu Mallon with the Clearwater Kung Fu center. This is Kung Fu for health. In these how-to clips, I'm working on saber basics. The next basic that we're working on is basic thrusts. So, thrusting just like thrusting punching with your saber. We're going to begin with your right hand holding the sword. Again, you're going to have your knuckles lining up with the blade. We're going to put the blade onto your side. Your left hand is going to extend out in front of you. You're going to bring your right hand thrusting forward, your left hand pulling back into your shoulder. The hand comes straight out this way and punch out. Come right back in. Again, from a different angle. Now, you'll notice that my saber, right, this is a training saber. So, the steel is called a spring steel so this means it gives from left to right. It has some strength to it but it's not over strong. This way that when I'm throwing my punch, right, I can transmit my power all the way to the tip of the sword and you'll see the sword shake. This is the difference between a strong thrust and a weak thrust. Weak thrust, strong thrust. This is saber basic thrust Kung Fu for health.
