Scrapbooking: String & Wire Bead Instructions for Homemade Shaker Cards

Hi! My name is Elizabeth, and on behalf o Expert Village, we’re moving forward in our series of using beads in your card making. Today, we’re working on a card where we are stringing beads on a piece of wire around accented image. So what we want to do is first pick out the beads we want to use. I have some beads here, I’m just going to pour them all out. I don’t really want to use the green, but I’m going to pick out some of these ivory hearts, some flowers, and a few red accents. What I want to do is I just want to kind of measure how many times I want it to go around. I’m just going to wrap it around here. This is just kind of an idea of how much I want. I think we’ll just go around 3 or 4 times. Then I’m just going to take my sheers and clip it off. It’s as easy as that. Then what I will do is unwrap it. To start with, I’m just going to secure this end of the wire with just some tape. This will keep it secure and also keep that sharp edge from puncturing or scratching up your paper. At this point, I’m just going to string a few beads on here, just however you want them to go. You can have them really neat and orderly in a particular pattern, or you can just string them on and just call it your artistic license to have it however. Then one last bead here, we’ll just do this last heart. So you can see, I just wrapped them around there. Now I’m just going to clip. I got a little extra wire. You can just make it go up this way and tape it down. I’m just going to go ahead and clip it off. Then again, we’re just going to secure it with the tape. If you’re using an accent piece like this in a scrapbook page, you want to make sure that you are using an acid free tape, even for this part of securing. Then what you can do if you want it just add more tape to just kind of hold the wire in place. Then you can see that the beads can just freely move, adding a nice little decorative accent to your card piece.
