How to Float the Fly on Top of the Water

What we are doing here know we are trying with the dry fly. Floating on top and we got currently we got some wind going. So we need to use a little more strength in your forward cast. Typically what we can also do is go up river turn around and throw against the wind so you don't have the problem throwing against the wind. So remember stop, hesitate, cast, stop, hesitate, cast, and then present it to the water and keep the tip followed with the fly and mend it to make it a natural drift. Now when your are pulling it out of the water you want to strip it in a little bit so we don't disturb the fish so what that means is you strip in gently without moving the fly to much. You want to bring it in typically about a eighth to ten feet from your person before you bring it up and out of the water to recast it. When you do bring it out of the water you release your line from your control hand or your casting hand to your control hand so you can control your line. You bring it up and back cast forward feed more line, and drop where you want to drop it. Then mend it depending on the current and the wind. Now it also important is when you cast four or five times you should always check your fly to make sure if by chance if the hook is not bent, make sure the wings are looking good, and if by chance if it is starting to submerge you can put some dry float to keep it back up in the water again.
