How to Attach the Fly to the Tippet or Leader

So now what we can do is put on our fly. What we are going to start off with a what we call a streamer a popper. It is a imitation grasshopper. The water here seems to like them. We are going to begin with a popper and see how we do. What we are going to be doing is we are going to get into casting techniques. The proper way to hold your gear your rod fasting techniques forward cast, side cast, your back cast, your roll cast. I lot of different things involve which really makes this fun for all members of the family. What we are going to do here is we are going to do a clinch knot. Which secures the fly to your tippet or to your leader. You put it through the eye lid and once you do you, you troll it around eight times. Then you bring the tip of your tippet back through at the loop of the eye lid of your popper or your fly. As I said make sure that you moisten it down before you secure it. Now when I bring that line through the tip of the tip through the eye lid, I'm going to go back through the loop and this is called a improve clinch knot. Again moisten your line before you secure the knot. Okay then your fly is attached you trim off the access line. Now we are ready to go and see if we can catch something.
