Hi! I'm Daniel on behalf of Expert Village. In this clip, we're going to talk about maintaining the sliding glass door lock. It's a very simplistic lock, but maintaining it and keeping it lubed up will give you an extended life out of the lock. There's 2 ways to lube this lock. One, is to simple stick the key in and retract the bolt. Spray around the outside of the lock and press it in. You can also spray the outside of the bolt and that'll make sure you get a good function out of it. The other place to spray is inside the lock itself. You want to just spray for a couple of seconds of high quality lubricant in there and run the key in and out 3 or 4 times, then also turn it. You don't want to take this lock off of the track. Because of the aluminum, where the screw goes in, that aluminum is going to ware if you remove those bolts or those screws very often and it'll start getting loose. Once you put it on, try not to take it off to maintain it. Now, when lubing the lock, you want to use a high quality lubricant such as Tri-Flow. You want to stay away from WD40s or your really low end lubricants. They don't have many lubricating properties. Tri-Flow is a Teflon based lubricant, which is going to coat the parts. It's going to add the life to the lock, because it's going to maintain those parts at a much higher rate than you're lower quality lubricants.
