Hi! I’m Rob McMahon for Expert Village. The only thing about safety features is that often times they’re just in the way. This guard here is removable, and that’s what we’re going to do right now is get it out of the way. One of the reasons I chose this particular saw is that it’s fairly easy to remove. Pop up the plate, raise the blade all the way, and then an Allen wrench fits on the side here. Just a couple of turns and it comes right out. Replace the cover plate and put back the allen wrench. You don’t want the blade to high so you lower that right a way.
