Questions & AnswersHi! My name is Elizabeth and on behalf of Expert Village, we’re continuing in our series of using embossing in card making. So what we’re going to show you now is a continuation of using the embossing pen, and I want to show you how you can use it if an image that you are working with did not get fully inked or embossed. I’m just going to use this stamp here. Now granted with an acrylic stamp you can pretty well see how inked up it is, but just bare with me as we use this as an example. So perhaps I smudged it or something, as I stamp it down we have the image. As we take our embossing powder….lets use white…you want to sprinkle this on our image, making sure that it’s fully covered and then sprinkle it off. You can see here that part of the L did not get the ink on there clearly for the embossing powder to stick. A lot of people at this point will want to use the pen now. You want to wait, you want to heat emboss the image, and then go back in. Otherwise, you’re going to get embossing powder stuck on your embossing pen, and you don’t want that to happen. Right now, we will quickly go ahead and heat this. You can see that that was embossed. At this point, now what we will do is go in with our pen. I’ll use the fine tip side, and just kind of add…you can look at the stamp…but I can kind of see where it would have come off here. So I will just add that with my embossing pen, add some more embossing powder, shake it off, and then go ahead and finish with the heat embossing of this image. There you go. That’s how you would use your pen to fill in images that perhaps got smudged, or that did not get the full ink when stamped down. It’s great for what the pen’s for. Also, for coloring in or getting that fine detail in there.
