Piemonte Wine Recommendations

Hi! I am Mark Middlebrook and I am here in the Paul Marcus Wines wine cellar. And, in this segment I am going to talk about some really excellent Piemonteze wine producers and their wines. This is a hard choice for me. A really hard choice. There are at least four or five dozen more I could have on the table here. But, we only a few minutes so here we go. First of all, Cascina Ca Rossa, from the Roero just north of Alba. And, Angelo Ferrio is the man who runs the show there in this family winery. This are, by the way, all family wineries. Very small producers where the family does pretty much all the work. Occasionally I am there helping them out when I can get over. And, this is his Roero Audinaggio. So, Roero, the apallation the named white style is one hundred percent Nebbiolo. And, this particular wine is from the Audinaggio vineyard. Beautiful, aromatic, very pretty version of Nebbiolo from the Roero. Secondly, Sottimano Barbaresco. So, now we are east of the town of Alba. Not too far from Angelo's place. And, this is from the vineyard Falsoni. And, I like Sottimano's wines because they just, they have such elegance to them. They really, they have that minerality that you get in Barbaresco, but beautiful aromatics of Nebbiolo. And, the wines just have wonderful poise and elegance. Every time I have a bottle of Sottimano's wines I am real happy. And thirdly, a Barolo from Mauro Molino. A producer in the town of La Mora. And, one of again, three or four dozen Barolo producers I could have picked out. All of whom make excellent wines. I particularly think the wines from Mauro Molino and his son Mateo are really good value, besides being well made. They really show off La Mora, the village of La Mora. The Barolos that come from there tend to really have this wonderfully, wonderfully pretty side to them. They have the power and the heft of Barolo, but the very elegant and bright and pretty side as well. So, sorry to all my friends whom I left out this time, but I hope you can enjoy some of the wines of these three anyway.
