How to Select Cooking Equipment for Camping

Hi. This is John Stewart and this is how to select and pack your cooking equipment for a weekend camping trip. Once you've decided what you're going to cook; how you're going to cook it, you need to get your gear out. If you decide that you're not going to do outdoor wood and stuff like that; charcoal or anything, you are probably going to go with a stove. You can get stoves that use canister fuel or liquid fuel. Canister stove fuels work really well. They're a lot; real light weight, because the fuel, liquid fuel weighs a lot more. So, you can get a canister stove. They're normally a little bit smaller. They pack down really light. They cook really, really fast. They have efficient burn times, so you don't have to carry a lot of fuel with you. You also are going to need to take some plates, cooking essentials. Most of the time you can get a mess kit that is going to cover everything you need. You're probably going to need a pot, a pan; for cooking. OK. So, you've got a little skillet. You've also got a pot that you can easily put and boil water cook some pasta, stuff like that. This mess kit is going to come with your pot handle. It's also going to come with a bowl and a cup. You don't see a lot of times people taking plates, because they'll either eat right out of the pan, so that they can cut down the weight. OK. Take some reusable silverware. You don't want to take a lot to have to reuse it and carry different forks out. Take one that you can use all the time. OK. Fuel; if you do take liquid fuel you are going to want to pack this on the outside of your pack. It's going to come in a red bright bottle, so that you know it's fuel. You don't want this leaking on the inside of your pack. Canister fuel can go on the inside, because it's not going to leak. So, this is how to select and pack your stove, cooking equipment for a weekend camping excursion.
